The New Spectra/Chrom® Model 280 UV Detector

The Spectra/Chrom Model 280 UV Monitor is the ideal detector for HPLC The Model 280 UV Detector is CE marked.

The Spectra/Chrom Model 280 UV Detector is a fixed wavelength flow-through spectrophotometer specifically engineered for use as a detector in liquid chromatography, both hplc and low-pressure chromatography. It features a dual beam optical system that allows the automatic subtraction of a solvent background, even in the presence of a rapidly changing gradient.

The Model 280 UV Detector comes complete with filters for operation at 254 and 280 nm and a dual-flowpath 5 mm pathlength preparative flow cell.

A vatiety of options are available for use with the Model 280 UV Detector. None of these options are necessary for most uses of the detector.

142615 Cable to connect the Model 280 UV Detector to a CF-1 Fraction Collector. When this cable is connected, a small 'tick' mark will be placed on the recorder trace every time the fraction collector advances to the next tube. This makes it easy to determine which tube has the fraction you're looking for. It also carries the signals you'll need if you use the peak detector in the fraction collector.
142620 Replacement fittings for the Model 280 UV Detector. This package includes a set of tubing fittings (for 1/8 and 1/16 inch OD and 1/16 inch ID tubing) as well as replacement flow-cell windows and gaskets.
142644 2 mm pathlength flowcell. With very extremely highly light absorbing media, the 5 mm pathlength flow cell supplied with the detector may provide too long a light path. This flow cell may be used in these situations.
142640 10 mm pathlength flowcell. The 10 mm pathlength flow cell offers a 2-fold increase in sensitivity over the standard 5 mm pathlength flowcell. It is also twice as likely, however, to be swamped by background light absorbance.
142642 5 mm pathlength flowcell. The 5 mm pathlength flow cell is offered as a replacement item for those who damage or lose their original flow cell (it is also offered for those who always want to make sure they have extra stuff "just in case").
142608 254/280 nm filter slide. The filter slide is used to select which wavelength you are using. One is, of coarse, included with the detector. It is also offered as a replacement item for those who lose or damage their original filter slide.
142650 Replacement lamp assembly. The lamp in the Model 280 UV detector provides 5,000 to 7,000 hours of illumination. Since the detector has a very rapid warm-up time, there is no need to leave the lamp on overnight and on weekends. This lets you get the maximum use from each lamp with typical lifetimes being 3 to 5 years.
